ICON Corporation was founded in August of 1995 to service the demand for engineering skills and abilities related to the Infrastructure Development of Personal Communications Services (PCS). ICON Wireless was formed in August of 2005 to focus attention on Wireless Infrastructure Development.

The company officially started its operations in the northern suburbs of Chicago during January of 1997. Since that time, ICON has established itself as a leader in the development of wireless communications systems. The company has been involved in the design and development of wireless networks throughout the United States and has strategically positioned itself to develop international systems.

While we continue to grow, our scope of business includes: PCS (2G), iDEN (2.5G), CDMA2000 (3G), W-CDMA/UMTS (3G), WiMAX 802.16d (3.5G Fixed), WiMAX 802.16e (4G Mobility), MMDS (Multi-channel Multi-point Distribution Service), LMDS (Local Multi-point Distribution Service), and WLL (Wireless Local Loop) / Fixed Access. These new services will allow operators to compliment their voice communication networks with higher speed data rates and wireless cable/video communications. With such a high degree of experience in wireless network development and operations management, ICON can provide its customers with a total communications solution.

Technical expertise is ICON's most significant asset. ICON has experts who specialize in every area of the cellular infrastructure. All of ICON's staff members have been involved in building systems that are more complex than the traditional cellular systems of yesterday.

ICON brings significant experience to the table. We are loaded with talent. More than 90% of ICON’s Managers and Engineers were trained by several of the largest manufacturers of telecommunication systems in the world including Lucent Technologies, Motorola, and Nortel Networks. All of ICON’'s Engineers have experience with Integrated Digital Cellular Systems that include CDMA, GSM, TDMA & iDEN. In fact, a number of our engineers were directly involved in the development of Nextel’s iDEN System currently deployed throughout the United States. ICON Engineers were also directly involved in the build-out of the Sprint network in a number of major metropolitan markets including Austin, Cleveland, Dallas, Denver, Detroit, Indianapolis, Kansas City, Los Angeles, and Tulsa. ICON has also developed Sprint affiliate networks in Missouri, New York, Washington and Oregon. Our growing customer base includes companies such as Motorola, Alamosa PCS, Independent Wireless One (now owned by US Unwired), Roberts Wireless Communications (now owned by Alamosa), Roberts Tower Company, Sprint-Nextel, and Washington Oregon Wireless (now owned by Alamosa). Most of our customer's networks are enriched with a multitude of services that include Digital (CDMA, TDMA & GSM) Cellular, Enhanced Two-Way Radio (ESMR), Short Messaging (including VMS, IVR & TAP) and 3G High Speed Packet Data capable of supporting VoIP and Video.
